Spring - Summer Update 2008 for Pasque Harmony

Dear Pasque Harmony Supporters

Well here we are into another year; time to reflect on some really successful Pasque Harmony moments and to look forward and tell you about all that’s to come in 2008!

Our success, as always lies with the generosity of our supporters, support that has helped Pasque Harmony to raise just over £10,000 in the last year!! We hope that once again we will be able to make a massive cheque presentation, and in turn a huge contribution to the work of The Pasque Charity and Keech Cottage.

Reflecting on some of our concerts last year, what better way could we have had to round off the summer season than to perform for the first time in four years at St Luke’s Church, Leagrave, on the 29th September as part of their Proms Festival of events. I must say that personally it was great to be able to be a participant this time around, because it was in 2003 at the last concert, that I decided to join Pasque Harmony having heard just what a varied array of music they performed and just what fun it seemed.

After this we were tucked away rehearsing our Christmas music, but it always seems such a shame that the wide range of festive melodies we perform only get to be aired and shared just once a year. Therefore it was fantastic that 2007 saw us extend them to a wider and very appreciative audience. We kicked off our trio of concerts aptly on the 1st December at St George’s in Toddington and followed this at our annual venue of St Augustine’s, Luton on the 8th December, finishing off at St Mary’s in Pirton the very next day!

Our first concert of 2008 saw us perform at a new venue for Pasque Harmony- Templefields School in Flitwick. Performing alongside us for the second time in a matter of months was the Luton Youth Choir, for a specially selected evening of songs from musicals and films, a night thoroughly enjoyed by all. May we take this opportunity once again to thank Templefields for a very generous gesture in donating their share of the money raised to The Pasque Charity, saying that the Charity’s need was greater than their own.

A trip down memory lane then followed on the 10th March at Dunstable Methodist Church when former members of the Luton Girls’ Choir took to the stage to sing some old favourites and to reminisce about their lives in the choir.

May 2008 is a month that we have all been looking forward to with anticipation as we are privileged to be joining forces once again with the magnificent and internationally acclaimed Morriston Orpheous Male Voice Choir. Our last concert with them proved to be a memorable occasion not only for us but for our audience and we hope that this time around is no different with rehearsals already under way on what we hope will be a rousing programme of music for all to enjoy. Much effort and hard work goes into putting a concert of this scale to an audience and we are confident that this will pay dividends on the night itself.

Summer will also see us re-visiting Wayside Cottage in Barton-Le-Clay for our annual English Country Garden concert. Let’s all hope that the weather is kinder to us this year so that we can all fully appreciate just what a wonderful setting it is for us to perform in.

As you well know, the message that Pasque Harmony conveys is always at the heart of our concerts whether we’re singing locally or further afield. Therefore this year has seen and will continue to see us performing at some new venues. We do hope that we can continue to entertain our loyal followers but also encourage new audience members to come and see what we are all about and to find out more about our principle aim to raise funds for The Pasque Charity and other worthwhile causes.

If you have an interest and enthusiasm for singing, then why not come and join in the fun!? We are always looking for new members to come on board. The music that we perform is so varied that there is always something to suit all tastes. Rehearsals take place on a Thursday night at Icknield Junior School, Luton. For more information please feel free to talk to any member at one of our concerts or call Wendy Welburn on 01582 652953.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you over the coming months!

Please take a look at our list of forthcoming events and see which ones you can make!
